Available DogsIf you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please read about NEARR's Dogs and the placement process. NEARR specializes in matchmaking. We know our dogs very well through speaking with the previous owner or shelter, doing a careful evaluation, and evaluating the dogs further while they are in foster care. We then get to know our applicants through a thorough questionnaire, interviews, home screenings, and reference checks. We have never accepted applications for a specific dog. Instead, we've always matched applicants up with the appropriate dog based on our knowledge and experience. Lucy
Age: 1 ½ years old My name is Lucy and my mission in life is to play, play, and play. I like to chase balls -even though I don’t like to give them back. Playing tug-of-war with a rope toy is fun, too. I also like to play keep away and will tease you with a toy or slipper just to entice you to chase me. When I am not playing, then I am doing my best to please the people with whom I live. I have been living in a home with 2 other dogs. Although I like playing with them, I sometimes get a little too aroused and play a little too roughly. For this reason, my friends at NEARR think it might be better if I go to a home where I am the only dog. Just think - I wouldn’t have to compete with anyone for petting, cuddling, and ear scratching! PERFECT!!! My foster mom says that I am not only cute, but smart. I didn’t know very many commands when I first moved in. Now I know "sit", "down", "kennel up", and "come". I am still working on "wait", "stay", and "off". I’ve been working on these for awhile and I am getting better, but I am still not reliable enough to say that I know them. Mom makes me wear a Halti head collar when we go for walks. She says I walk better on leash now, and therefore, she takes me out more often. I LOVE to go for walks. Please take me home with you! Cole
Age: 7 years Hi Everyone, I'm Cole. I'm a great dog, but for some reason I've been overlooked by people looking for a new dog. My NEARR friends call it black dog syndrome. What ever the reason, I've been in foster care for over a year, and I'd really like to find my forever family. Not that I'm complaining about my foster family, they are taking great care of me, but every dog needs a home and family of his own. I'm sweet and friendly, I am pretty obedient, I don't counter surf or get into the trash. I love people and to cuddle up with my person, but I love to retrieve as well - check out my video below. A game of fetch out in the yard or a walk around the neighborhood takes care of my exercise needs. I'm just a gentle, laid back guy. I love older kids, but I'm afraid of toddlers, they're so unpredictable. I'm also afraid of strange dogs, but I lived with dogs in my original home with no problems, and in my foster home I live with another lab (she's in my video), and we get along just fine. I just have to get to know the other dog first to be sure he won't hurt me. My perfect home would be with an older person or couple who want a moderate energy guy or a family with older kids who would throw the ball for me. I could be an only dog or a second dog. I'm flexible, I just want someone who would love me forever, PLEASE consider taking me home. Boomer - Adopted!
Age: 9 years old This handsome angel needs a home that will allow him live out his retirement years in comfort and surrounded by love. But don't be mislead by his age because for Boomer age is a state of mind; this guy is young at heart. Some arthritis in his left front paw and a little slow at times but otherwise in fine health. He has perfect manners, is very obedient, wants nothing more than to please and is very loving and sweet. Boomer gets along great with other dogs and while he has never lived with a cat he never bothered the neighbors' cat when it came into his former home's yard. |
